Gridley is located in southwestern Butte County, which is the hub of an expanding and affluent West Coast market region. These markets include San Francisco, and Los Angeles. Situated on Highway 99, Gridley is a convenient 60-mile drive north of the state capitol, Sacramento. Butte County is situated on the east side of Northern California's rich Sacramento Valley. The Surrounding counties include: Plumas on the northeast, Yuba on the southeast, Sutter and Colusa on the southwest, Glenn on the west and Tehama on the northwest. Butte County covers 1,675 square feet miles and its western boundary is the Sacramento River. Gridley itself is 1.28 square miles and is just 2 miles west of the Feather River. Highway: Gridley is located on State Route 99 and is a major traffic corridor from Sacramento to Chico. The Traffic count per hour is approx. 1,200. Rail: Amtrak service is available in nearby Chico and Marysville Air: Gridley is located between the Sacramento Metro Airport (about one hour south) and the Chico Municipal Airport (about 40 minutes north). Freight: Several major trucking firms serve the area, providing overnight delivery to most cities in the west. United Parcel Services are also available. Bus: Butte County Transit system provides transportation to all cities in Butte County. Senior and handicapped rates are available. LIVE OAK: Live Oak, California, is located in the heart of the fertile, Sacramento Valley. Live Oak is ideally located for easy access to Sacramento, the Bay Area, Lake Tahoe/Reno and a wide variety of recreational opportunities. Located at the northern edge of Sutter County, Live Oak is just minutes north of the rapidly growing Twin Cities area of Yuba City/Marysville and about 40 minutes south of the expanding Chico Metropolitan area. Population: Sutter County 64,415; Live Oak 4500. Climate: Elevation is 75 feet, prevailing winds southerly, mean hourly speed 5.6 mph. Community Facilities: A community swimming pool, little league and softball fields are located adjacent to the City Park, west of Hwy. 99 on Pennington Road. A new community building is near completion close to the park complex and will serve for dances, dinners, youth and other activities. Live Oak is also within convenient access of two excellent junior colleges: Butte College and Yuba College. It is also within on hour of California State University at Chico.
